아이폰용 킨들 앱을 설치하면 new oxford American dictionary 줄여서 NOAD가 무료로 딸려온다. 웹사이트에 찾아보니 60불 정도. 2005년도에 발행된 2판이다. 아쉽게 풀텍스트 검색은 안되고 표제어만 검색이 된다. 김치를 예제로 찾아보다가 재미있는 것 발견. 옥스퍼드 사전에 등재된 한국인 김씨는 몇명일까요. NOAD 2nd Ed. 기준으로 2명이네요. 둘 다 위대한(?) 분들이군요. 한분은 고 김대중 대통령이시구요. 나머지 한 명은 북쪽에서 위대한 수령동지라고 불리우는 김일성입니다.
킨들 어플에서 내려받은 책이랑 주석들은 다른 기기에서도 싱크가 돼서 좋군요.
사전기능은 우리나라 전자책 리더에는 기본으로 있지 않나요.
이젠 이런저런 핑계대지 말고 읽어야 할 때군요.

한국경제를 선택한 후에 다운로드를 터치한다.
바탕에 앱이 설치된 화면이다.
실행을 하면 한국경제의 로고 화면이 잠깐 나타났다가 메인 화면으로 넘어간다.
메인화면에는 헤드라인 기사 25개가 나열된다.
상단의 사진기사는 하나인 것 같지만 5개가 배치되어 있어 손으로 슬라이딩을 하면서 선택할 수가 있다. 그리고 20개의 기사는 개별로 나열된다. 사진의 주인공 표정이 므흣(?)하군요.
하단에는 5개의 기능 버튼이 있다. 첫번째 메뉴버튼을 터치하면 섹션별로 이동할 수 있는 다이얼 방식의 메뉴들이 나타난다.
헤드라인을 포함해서 9개의 메뉴가 있고 제일 끝에 개인화 설정을 할 수 있는 메뉴가 숨어(?)있다. 너무 깊이 숨어있는 것이 단점중의 하나다.
분야별 지면기사는 섹션별로 과거 50개의 주제별 가사를 볼 수 있다. 상단에는 다이얼 메뉴 9개에도 없는 만평과 포토 항목이 있다. 시리즈로 나오는 기사를 보거나 최근 일주일내의 기사를 보는데 유용하다.
My Page라는 코너는 개인화 설정을 하는 곳이다. 하부메뉴로 내스크랩, 키워드관리, about이 있다.
내스크랩은 스크랩한 기사를 볼 수 있는 공간이다. 상단 홈 옆에 보일러 대신 내스크랩 바로가기 버튼 하나 놔드리면 좋겠네요.
키워드관리는 10개의 대주제 키워드 카테고리를 등록할 수 있으며 대주제 대표명 밑에 3개의 키워드를 등록할 수 있다.
about에는 신문어플에 관한 안내글이 있다.
두번째로 돋보기 모양의 search버튼을 클릭하면 기사를 검색할 수 있다.
온라인기사와 지면기사에서 결과가 올라온다. 기본적으로 최근 온라인 기사 10개 지면 기사 10가 표시되고 더보기를 터치하면 10개씩 추가되어 과거기사를 열람할 수가 있다.
세번째로 보관하고 싶은 기사가 있는 경우에는 하단의 Scrap 버튼을 클릭하면 기사가 scrap쪽으로 빨려들어가는 애니메이션 효과가 나타난다. 스크랩된 글은 Menu > My page > 내스크랩에서 확인할 수 있습니다. 처음에 이걸 찾는데 다소 시간이 걸렸다.
Keyword버튼을 클릭하면 Menu > My Page > 키워드관리에서 설정한 키워드와 매치되는 신문기사를 대주제 카테고리별로 보여준다. 나는 2개의 키워드로 IT와 재테크를 저장해보았다.
마지막으로 신문지면을 볼 수 있는 e-Paper를 살펴보겠다. 첫화면은 화면 네비게이션 터치영역이 표시된다. 화면네비게이션은 영역 터치방식으로 다음쪽으로 이동하려면 우측 영역을 뒷쪽으로 가려면 좌측 영역을 터치한다. 넓게 보려면 가운데 영역 상단을 터치한다. 가장 중요한 부분이다. 해당 지면의 기사목록을 볼려면 가운데 영역 하단을 터치한다. 대각선으로 각 끝쪽이 터치하기 애매한 지역이다. 차리리 영역을 색상이나 음영으로 표시해주는 것이 더 낫을 듯하군요.

네비게이션 표지가 사라지면 아래와 같이 신문 1면부터 보여집니다. 상단 좌측에는 현재 페이지 표시와 우측에는 발행일자가 표시됩니다.
현재 페이지표시를 터치하면 다른 페이지로 이동할 수 있는 선택 다이얼이 나타납니다. 섹션표시와 페이지가 같이 나타나기 때문에 원하는 섹션으로 쉽게 이동할 수 있습니다.
오늘자 신문이외의 과거 신문을 보려면 우측 상단의 일자 표시를 터치합니다. 그러면 다이얼을 돌려 과거의 기사도 찾아볼 수가 있습니다.
해당 지면을 손가락으로 줌인해서 확대해 볼 수가 있습니다. 하지만 더블터치했을 때 전체보기로 돌아오지는 않습니다.
화면 가운데 하단을 터치하면 해당 지면의 기사목록이 나옵니다. 헤드라인 기사가 아닌 단신의 작은 기사는 육안으로 보기에 글자체가 작아 식별이 어렵습니다. 이럴 때 기사목록을 이용하면 보기가 수월합니다. 아래에는 해당지면에 3개의 기사가 있다는 걸 알 수 있습니다.
2번째 기사를 선택해보겠습니다. 기사목록에서 기사를 터치하면 해당기사가 보여집니다. 여기서 장점은 신문지면 형태로 해당 부분이 보여지면서 바로 밑에 텍스트 기사가 같이 나옵니다. 상단에는 기사목록 페이지가 표시됩니다.
다음 기사를 볼려면 <신문지면>을 터치해 뒤로 돌아갈 필요없이 화면의 우측 영역을 터치하면 아래처럼 3 /3 기사로 넘어갑니다.
2 / 3에서 좌측영역을 터치하면 1 / 3 기사로 이동합니다.
기사 끝에는 기자의 이메일 주소와 관련 뉴스가 보여집니다. 아쉽게도 기자에게 메일 보내기라든지 관련기사는 링크가 되어있지 않은 점이 옥의 티네요.
- 첫화면에서 다양한 사진기사를 볼 수가 있어서 좋습니다.
- 네비게이션이 편리합니다. 메뉴에서 섹션별로 이동하기가 좋습니다.
- 기사이동이 터치방식이라서 손에 땀이 배어있어도 이동이 용이합니다.
- 신문지면을 확대해서 보기가 편합니다. 조선일보 앱에서는 주식시세를 확대해 볼 수가 없지만 한국경제는 주식시세라든가 작은 광고도 식별이 될 정도로 확대가 됩니다. Good~
- 상세기사보기에 PDF형태의 실제 지면과 텍스트기사가 같이 나와서 좋습니다.
- 개인화 설정이 좋습니다. 스크랩이나 키워드에 따른 관심 기사를 체크하기 좋습니다.
- 과거의 기사도 볼 수 있어 좋습니다.
- Push기능이 없어서 언제 업데이트가 이루어지는지 알 수가 없습니다. push기능이 있으면 앱이용률이 높아질 것같습니다. (조선일보앱 참조)
- offline 보기 기능이 없어서 wi-fi가 지원안되는 곳에서는 볼 수가 없습니다.(조선일보, 중앙일보앱 참조)
- 기사를 보다가 종료했을 경우엔 앱을 실행하면 보던 곳으로 이동하지 않습니다.
- 기사를 이메일로 보내거나 트위터와 같은 소셜 네트워크 사이트로 전송기능이 없습니다.
- 가로보기를 지원하지만 고정할 수 있는 설정이 없습니다. 가로 세로 고정을 할 수 있는 기능이 필요합니다. 신문을 침대에서 모로 누워볼 때는 필수 기능입니다. (MobileRSS앱 참조)
- 네비게이션이 터치방식만 지원합니다. 보통의 전자책 앱처럼 터치와 슬라이딩 방식을 모두 지원했으면 좋겠습니다. (stanza 참조)
- 댓글 기능이 없습니다. 이용자들도 소통하고 참여할 수 있는 기능이 있으면 좋겠습니다.
- Headline 사진기사의 dot 표시가 흰색이라 5개의 기사가 있다는 것을 모르고 넘어가는 경우가 많습니다. 검은색으로 바꾸거나 화면의 색상에 따라 바뀔 수 있으면 더 가독성이 좋을 것같습니다.
- 흰바탕에 검은 글씨가 기본인데요. 모바일의 전력소비를 줄이기 위해서 검은바탕에 흰글씨도 지원할 수 있도록 해주세요.
- 보통 사파리에서는 상단을 터치하면 본문 기사 제일 상단으로 이동하는데 여기서는 작동이 안됩니다.
- 신문지면에서 멀티터치가 지원되지 않습니다. 멀티터치로 확대 축소가 되었으면 좋겠습니다.
- 메뉴의 depth가 깊네요. 섹션별 이동은 슬라이딩 방식으로 전환하면 더 좋을 것같습니다. (Lifehacker앱 참조) 스크랩된 것을 찾기가 어렵습니다. 유사한 기능인 스크랩글과 Keyword를 통합하는 것도 좋을 것같습니다.
- reflow되면서 글자체를 확대 축소할 수 있는 기능이 있으면 기존 신문에 익숙한 어른신들이 보기 편할 것같습니다. (중앙일보앱 참조)
